Dash Blitz

Dash Blitz was a platform-fighter played at lightning speed, taking more inspiration from Mega Man Zero and other platformers than Smash Bros - which is to say, every action can be cancelled, there's no landing lag, and I really do mean lightning speed.

Also, you can play as a car, honk honk.

Working on Dash Blitz took up the better part of my life throughout the years of 2018 and 2019. It was an incredible experience that I wouldn't trade for anything, even though it introduced me to many harsh realities - working on this game day and night did a number on my hands, which sank a lot of work opportunities once I realised it wasn't going to be a financial success, which I'm only now getting on top of again. But, hey, at least my Rondo's sick.

Although the game is incomplete, in this form I still think it's a lot of fun with friends and would like to preserve it for years to come. It plays well via Parsec and other services too, though if you just want a single-player experience I recommend the Race and Onslaught modes.

Its original description on Steam is preserved below. Yes, the robot genie thing was obviously evil and was obviously going to be the final boss. I feel comfortable spoiling the obvious fighting game plot at this stage of my life.

The year is 1410, Transmission Era.

Humanity has prospered thanks to instant transmission technology, and forgotten much of what preceded them. Wide-spread nanite use has given humans superior physical capabilities, and what was once considered "augmented" is now the norm. The thrill of combat is the top sport across the globe, and advances in nanite technology have continued to push fighters beyond their limit. Humans now compete on even footing with their own creations - and often fight more fiercely.

Dash Transit Solutions, the top dog in transmission networks, are sponsoring the DTS Grand Prix - the first international fighting tournament the Transmission Era has ever seen.
